Purpose
Provides expert advice and services on legal concerns with emphasis on establishing policies that minimise legal and commercial risk. Applies independent judgment in determining courses of action required to perform assignments. Makes recommendations on all matters including policies and complex legal problems related to Great Britain and Ireland and supports the Netherlands.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides legal advice and support to the KONE Great Britain and Ireland organisation, with additional assistance to the Legal Counsel for the Netherlands as required.
- Reviews, drafts and negotiates construction contracts including JCT, NEC and FIDIC.
- Reviews, drafts and negotiates commercial contracts for lift maintenance services, supply chain arrangements and associated legal documentation, including NDAs, vesting certificates and collateral warranties.
- Drafts contract templates and framework agreements.
- Develops, implements and updates relevant legal policies and guidelines.
- Resolves legal disputes arising from construction projects, supply chain arrangements, service operations and employment-related matters, as well as other business issues, and navigates practical, commercially focused solutions.
- Supports senior lawyers to ensure that shareholders' meetings, board meetings and related filings and documentation are timely done in compliance with applicable laws and reported under the KONE Company Files policy.
- Focuses on preventing legal and contractual problems.
- Follows changes in laws and regulations and advise on how they impact KONE.
- Coordinates legal proceedings before courts, government agencies, or other authorities so that the KONE’s interests are protected.
- Maintains and coordinates contacts with external lawyers and related advisers.
- Maintains strong connections with colleagues within KONE to share best practices and to understand current and future needs.
- Collaborates with business colleagues to achieve targeted business results with acceptable level of legal risk.
- Provides training on legal areas affecting KONE's business.
- Good understanding and awareness of legal tech tools.

Professional requirements
- Good understanding of the law, contracts and commercial practices as relevant for KONE.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Registered and qualified solicitor in England and Wales.
- Flexible personality.
- Proactive approach.
- Advanced office-tools literacy, contractual and financial understanding.
Entry-level requirements
- NQ-two years of PQE.
- Experience with a construction or engineering company is preferred but not necessary.
- Commercial contracts experience is essential.
- Appropriate level legal degree.
- Fluent English with fluency in Dutch being an advantage.
- Desire to participate as a full member of the business team.
