Job Description
Versant seeks a Legal Counsel to primarily support the BRS Golf and GolfNow businesses with exposure to broader Versant digital ventures, including Fandango. This role is based in Belfast, Northern Ireland (with hybrid working arrangements available) and reports to the Senior Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal support to internal business clients on matters relating to Versant’s Digital Platforms and Ventures portfolio, including GolfNow, BRS Golf, Fandango, and related ventures—across international territories (beyond the US).
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including:
- Strategic partnerships
- Sponsorship agreements
- Vendor & supplier agreements
- Technology & software licensing agreements (MSAs, SaaS, etc.)
- Assess the legal implications of emerging technology products and services, with a focus on compliance (e.g., data protection, privacy, consumer protection, digital services, and platform regulations).
- Review and provide legal guidance on marketing and advertising activities, including promotions, competitions, sweepstakes, and website terms and conditions.
- Support business growth activities, including due diligence and research into cross-jurisdictional legal risks.
- Collaborate with wider internal legal/compliance teams (e.g., Cyber Risk, Data Protection, Corporate Secretarial, Litigation, Intellectual Property) to ensure consistent legal guidance.
- Manage external counsel to ensure timely, budget-compliant delivery.

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants must be a qualified solicitor with:
- Demonstrable experience in commercial law, including:
- Contracts negotiation
- Intellectual property (IP)
- Litigation support and risk assessment for business decisions
- Regulatory compliance knowledge, particularly in data protection and governance.
- Experience operating in a matrixed environment and collaborating across multiple functions.
