Employment Lawyer - In-House Counsel (6+ years’ PQE)

A leading international financial services company, renowned for being a great place to work, is seeking a qualified Employment Lawyer with 6+ years’ Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) to join their UK-based in-house legal team. Reporting to the Group Head of Legal, this role is ideal for an experienced professional looking for a career in an established and respected organisation.


Key Objectives of the Role

  • Hybrid working model: Minimum of 3 days in the office (south east, UK) with 2 days working remotely on a flexible basis (consideration for part-time candidates).
  • Act as a trusted and pragmatic advisor to the HR team and business leadership, offering guidance on:
    • Current and upcoming employment legislation and best practices
    • Dispute resolution and tribunal representation
    • Project leadership, coordinating legal strategy across the organisation
  • Contract drafting: Employment contracts, policies, and procedural documents
  • Operate with high autonomy in a dynamic environment

Experience & Qualifications

  • Qualification: Eligible for full practising rights as a solicitor or barrister (UK qualified or internationally qualified with Fall Back Rights).
  • Essential:
    • Specialisation in employment law at a senior level (meeting the 6+ years PQE requisite)
    • Ideally, a blend of large law firm experience with in-house exposure
  • Desirable & Preferred Competencies:
    • Commercial acumen: ability to balance legal expertise with pragmatic business solutions
    • Excellence in communication: clear, concise, and influential presentations
    • International perspective, given the employer’s global operations
    • Flexibility to adapt to evolving regulatory environments
