About The Role

Games Workshop is seeking an exciting and rare opportunity for an Intellectual Property Legal Counsel.

This is an ideal fit for a commercially astute qualified solicitor with a passion and drive to provide outstanding legal support to Games Workshop. The perfect candidate is a specialist in Intellectual Property law who thrives in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

Core Functions

  • Utilise technical knowledge and keen attention to detail to prepare and finalise intellectual property licensing agreements
  • Evaluate and negotiate digital distribution agreements, including website and app terms
  • Negotiate IP commissioning arrangements
  • Provide year in copyright and trademark law
  • Advise on a wide range of legal matters, including:
    • Copyright, music rights, and talent advice
    • Venue hire contracts
    • Global supplier arrangements
    • Consumer regulatory compliance, including marketing standards
    • Branding strategies and media initiatives

Collaborative Duties

  • Work cross-functionally to support Marketing, Media, Licensing, and Publishing departments
  • Maintain relationships with third parties and external counsel
  • Act as a consultant on established industry best practices, balancing individual departmental needs with the collective interests of Games Workshop
  • Drive departmental efficiencies and sustainable relationships across the business

Requirements

Qualifications & Licensing

  • Qualified solicitor admitted in England and Wales
  • Strong practical experience in copyright and trademark law

Technical & Legal Skills

  • Expertise in IP licensing and negotiation
  • Ability to operate at pace and navigate a dynamic business environment
  • Advanced clerical and written communication skills
  • Experience negotiating licensing documents and commercial agreements

Hybrid Working Arrangement

This role operates on a hybrid model, requiring twice-monthly presence at the head office in Lenton.
