Senior Commercial Lawyer (Global Commercial Law - Hybrid Working)
The role offers an exciting opportunity to develop and enhance the legal function within a rapidly growing, global business, collaborating closely with senior management to drive growth, compliance, and strategic excellence.
Located at the corporate centre in Crawley under a hybrid/flexible working model, this position also permits attendance at the London office as needs arise.
About the Role
The Senior Commercial Lawyer will play a critical role in supporting the commercial legal aspects of the business, including:
- Group Marketing & Innovation
- Group Procurement
- Group IT (AI, IoT)
- Global Accounts (negotiations with major international customers)
As part of a small legal and company secretarial team, the ideal candidate will align with the Legal Director, Commercial to:
- Deliver pragmatic, strategic legal advice, ensuring compliance and risk management
- Contribute to growth initiatives while upholding regulatory standards
Key Responsibilities
1. Global Accounts & Contract Negotiations
- Review and negotiate high-value, multi-jurisdictional contracts with major global customers (UK & international)
- Ensure adherence to Group contracting policy
- Act as primary legal advisor for the Global Accounts Team
- Draft and evaluate third-party agreements (NDAs, maternal transfers, regulatory filings)
- Provide compliance reviews for regulatory responses and investigations

2. Product Development & IP Support
- Support new product development phases, maintaining knowledge of legacy and emerging brands
- Offer marketing claims advice in compliance with advertising regulations
- Assist with own-brand product development and associated IP protection
- Oversee global IP portfolio, including:
- Acquisition, renewal, and defence of registered trademarks
- Collaboration with external counsel on IP strategy
- Stakeholder IP trainings
3. Group IT & AI Compliance
- AI governance: Draft and update AI'use policies (GenAI, AI risk frameworks)
- Provide legal advisory on AI regulation and related contracting
- Contribute to IoT programme developments
4. Group Procurement & Policy Enforcement
- Negotiate third-party supplier terms and review standard contract clauses
- Update and enforce the Group Procurement Policy and Contractual Minimum Standards ( inconsistencies)
- Offer guidance on supplier on-boarding and data protection/privacy matters
5. Compliance & Risk Management
- Manage Group risk registrations and compliance projects
- Develop and update template agreements (national/international)
- Foster compliance training and legal feedback systems (e.g., playbooks and support materials)
- Resolve disputes and support M&A transactions, if necessary

6. External Liaison
- Maintain relationships with external counsel and legal providers
- Assist in managing integration of AI tools into legal workflows
Requirements
Core Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer (England & Wales) with 5+ years’ Post-Qualification Experience (PQE)
- Experience at a top-tier firm or within an in-house legal department
Essential Technical Skills
- Contract drafting/negotiation expertise (mainly high-value, cross-border agreements)
- Ability to deliver clear, strategic, and actionable legal advice in rapid두
- Experience with complex legal challenges requiring creative problem-solving
- Knowledge of technological trends (preferably IPR, AI, IoT)
Preferred Competencies
- Experience in alternative legal areas (M&A, litigation, competition law)
- Prior in-house or international legal work advantageous
How to Apply

- Eligibility to practise law in England & Wales
