Legal Counsel - Real Estate Finance Lawyer
Senior Real Estate & Real Estate Finance Solicitor |
Insolvency, Real Estate & Finance
Department: | Location: Manchester, UK Reporting To: Head of Insolvency, Real Estate & Finance or relevant Director
Role Purpose – London or Manchester Based
To deliver commercially focused legal support across real estate and real estate finance, including:
- Advising on, negotiating, and executing commercial property and financing transactions
- Supporting business stakeholders and fund platform clients in achieving their strategic objectives
The role involves managing a broad range of transactions while collaborating with experienced colleagues on complex or strategic matters. You will:
- Work closely with clients and internal stakeholders from Credit, Real Estate, Direct Lending, and Asset Management
- Provide practical legal advice that enables commercial decision-making and efficient transaction delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Real Estate Transactions
- Advise on non-contentious commercial real estate transactions, covering:
- Acquisitions, disposals, and asset management matters
- Draft, review, and negotiate property documentation
- Support transactions from instruction to completion
- Identify and manage legal risks associated with property transactions
- Facilitate transaction delivery by collaborating with internal stakeholders and external advisers
Real Estate Finance
- Advise on property-backed lending and real estate finance transactions
- Draft, review, and negotiate finance, security, and ancillary documentation
- Support transaction structuring, risk allocation, and completion processes
- Assist with funding and completion arrangements
- Work closely with Investment, Credit, and Asset Management teams on financing matters

Advisory & Stakeholder Support
- Provide commercially focused, pragmatic legal advice to clients and business stakeholders
- Build and sustain strong stakeholder relationships (both internal and external)
- Develop and maintain legal precedents, templates, and processes
- Manage multiple matters simultaneously while upholding high standards of accuracy and service
- Collaborate with colleagues across Arrow Group businesses and jurisdictions, as required
Experience Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales or equivalent jurisdiction)
- Experience advising on:
- Non-contentious commercial real estate matters
- Real estate finance or secured lending transactions
- Experience in:
- Drafting and negotiating commercial property and finance documentation
- Managing transactions from instruction to completion
- Working directly with clients and business stakeholders
- Background in:
- Private practice
- In-house legal teams or another relevant legal environment
Essential Skills
- Strong understanding of commercial real estate transactions
- Familiarity with real estate finance and secured lending structures
- Proven drafting, negotiation, and legal analysis skills
- Ability to:
- Manage transactions independently while seeking guidance on complex issues
- Approach clients with a commercially aware problem-solving mindset
- Stakeholder management and communication skills
- Organisational and project management expertise
- Ability to:
- Handle competing priorities
- Deliver high-quality work on time
- Attention to detail and accuracy

Desirable Experience
Experience in one or more of the following:
- Real estate-backed lending
- Private credit transactions
- Direct lending structures
- Alternative lending platforms
- Fund-related real estate transactions
- Supporting investment or credit-focused business units
