About the Role
Our client ranks as one of the largest asset management companies globally with a large affiliate network across Europe, U.S. and Asia.
We are now looking for a junior-mid level lawyer (minimum 3 years’ PQE) to join their established London legal team on a permanent basis.
You may come from another asset manager, the financial services sector in a wider sense or a law firm. IMA experience is key here, and that you can hit the ground running in this area. Previous in-house experience in an asset manager would be beneficial.
Responsibilities
What will the role involve?
- IMAs - reviewing, drafting, negotiating. Some of which will be complex, bespoke, require solid negotiation skills and be intellectually challenging (you will not, for example, be churning through the same IMA time and time again);
- Assisting with other types of contractual documentation:
- investment advisory agreements
- terms of reference for the investment committee
- commercial agreements in a wider sense such as IT contracts, marketing agreements
- and ad hoc projects as they arise across the business

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
