The Team
The Construction team has experienced sustained growth driven by increasing client demand and advises across both contentious and non-contentious construction matters.
- Led by a Spears ranked Head of Department, recognised as a leading specialist in:
- Development projects.
- Building Safety matters.
- The team comprises:
- Highly regarded Partners.
- Legal Directors.
- Senior Associates.
- Associates, advising across a broad range of:
- Complex construction matters.
- Acts for an established client base including:
- Developers.
- Contractors.
- Funders.
- Consultants.
- Investors.
- Other construction professionals.
- Exerts expertise across the full lifecycle of construction projects, covering:
- Procurement strategies.
- Building contracts.
- Consultant appointments.
- Collateral warranties.
- Guarantees.
- Bonds.
- Project delivery.
- Construction disputes.
- Building Safety Act matters form an increasingly significant part of the practice.

The Role
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Construction lawyer to join the team as a Legal Director, working across both contentious and non-contentious Construction matters while playing a central role in:
- Leadership and direction of the practice.
- Continued development of the practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise clients throughout the lifecycle of construction and development projects.
- Lead on complex transactional and contentious matters, including:
- Drafting and negotiation of construction documentation.
- Construction disputes.
- Adjudications.
- Litigation.
- Arbitration.
- Other forms of ADR.
- Advise on sophisticated Building Safety Act and remediation matters alongside recognised leaders in this evolving area.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with Partners as a trusted adviser to an impressive client base, taking ownership of significant matters.
- Strengthen and expand existing client relationships.
Integration and Cross-Practice Work:
- Act as an integral member of the Construction team.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across:
- Real Estate.
- Corporate.
- Dispute Resolution practices.
- Deliver seamless, commercially focused advice on complex projects.
Leadership and Development:
- Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, delegating work appropriately to support their development.
- Ensure the efficient delivery of matters.
- Contribute actively to business development.
- Support strategic growth initiatives.
- Shape the continued success of the Construction practice.
- Clear opportunity to further strengthen your profile and progress towards Partnership.

Requirements
- Construction solicitor qualified in England & Wales with significant post-qualification experience appropriate for Legal Director level.
- Strong technical expertise across both contentious and non-contentious Construction matters.
- Experience advising on:
- Complex development projects.
- Managing sophisticated client relationships.
- Exposure to Building Safety Act matters would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Proven ability to:
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior lawyers.
- Effectively delegate work to maximise team development and efficiency.
- Work as an integral part of the Construction team.
- Collaborate with colleagues across other practice areas.
- Strong commercial awareness with:
- An aptitude for business development.
- Practice growth adaptability.
- A collaborative leadership style with:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Organisational and client management skills.
- Comfortable working within the firm’s hybrid working model.
