Legal Quality Assurance Lead
Job Title: Legal Quality Assurance Lead Job Type: Contract Location: Remote
About This Role
In this hourly, remote contractor role, you will work as a Legal Quality Assurance Lead to oversee quality, consistency, and trainer performance across legal AI training projects.
Key Duties:
- Review AI-generated legal content and trainer/QA work
- Evaluate output quality against project guidelines
- Provide precise written feedback and ensure contributors follow expected quality standards
- Assess work for:
- Legal reasoning quality
- Issue spotting
- Jurisdictional awareness
- Citation and source handling
- Clarity
- Risk awareness
- Formatting
- Instruction-following
- Adherence to project-specific rubrics
- Spot recurring quality issues
- Communicate updates to trainers and QAs
- Support onboarding, documentation, and contributor activation
- Manage remote legal-review teams tracking workflows and quality metrics
This role is with a fast-growing AI Data Services company, delivering training data for the world’s largest AI companies and foundation-model labs. Your legal quality leadership will directly help improve these models by ensuring legal training data is accurate, well-reasoned, clearly explained, appropriately cautious, well-documented, and client-aligned.
Important Note:
There is no immediate project for this role, but if qualified, you will be among the first experts targeted for future engagements. You’ll also gain access to potential projects through our expert network.
Your Profile
Education & Background
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in:
- Law (JD, LLB, LLM)
- Legal Studies
- Paralegal Studies
- Compliance
- Public Policy, or closely related fields

Expertise & Experience
- Strong grasp of the English language (for guidance interpretation, communication, and feedback).
- 3+ years of professional experience in:
- Legal practice
- Legal research
- Contract review
- Compliance
- Regulatory analysis

Technical & Evaluation Skills
- Ability to evaluate legal content using detailed rubrics, identifying:

- Unclear explanations
- Other deviations from quality guidelines
Assumed Familiarity & Preferences
- Experience with common legal workflows/tools:
- Contract review, legal memoranda, case summaries
- Regulatory guidance, citation-checking
- Legal databases, document review, compliance checklists, policy analysis
- Strongly preferred:
- Prior experience leading/supporting remote teams (trainers, annotators, QAs, lawyers, etc.).
- Comfort with fast-paced remote environments (Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, project management systems).
- Documentation-heavy roles (style guides, FAQs, trackers, onboarding materials, calibration tasks).

Bonus Experience
- Experience with AI training, LLM evaluation, prompt/response assessment, or rubric-based legal QA is a strong plus.

Quality Monitoring & Review
- Spot-check legal items, identify issues, and provide feedback.
- Escalate recurring or critical quality issues.
Legal Review
- Evaluate:
- AI-generated legal explanations, legal research responses
- Contract analyses, policy interpretations
- Case summaries, compliance guidance
- Question-spotting outputs for accuracy, clarity, and caution.
Trainer & QA Communication
- Update teams on Discord about:
- New item guidelines
- Project changes
- Workflow updates
- Quality expectations
- Legal review standards
Question Handling
- Respond promptly and clearly to queries on:
- Legal reasoning
- Jurisdiction
- Citation standards
- Source quality
- Disclaimers
- Contract language
- Rubric application
Contributor Activation
- DirectMessage inactive contributors to re-engage.
- Track follow-ups and flag availability issues.
Documentation & Onboarding
- Maintain style guides, FAQs, trackers, FAQs, examples, honeypots, and calibration tasks.
- Lead onboarding calls for teams, covering:
- Project expectations
- Workflows
- Rubrics
- Legal review standards
Risk & Safety Review
- Flag unsafe, misleading, overconfident, or jurisdictionally inappropriate legal outputs—especially personalized legal advice.
Process Improvement
- Identify recurring quality gaps.
- Propose workflow improvements.
- Contribute to scalable legal AI training QA processes for future projects.
