Legal Secretary – Charities (9 Month Fixed-Term Contract)

Welcome to Wedlake Bell. We’re seeking a dedicated Legal Secretary to join our Charities team and support our Employment practice on a 9-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover) basis. This role is full-time, with 3 days in-office per week required.

About the Role

You’ll primarily support our Charities team, which advises clients ranging from large charities, social enterprises, NGOs, and philanthropic foundations—providing guidance on organisational structuring, governance, regulatory compliance (both domestic and international), and more.

As Legal Secretary, you’ll deliver high-quality administrative support to ensure the Charities team operates smoothly. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing legal documents (from dictation or typed drafts)
  • File management and maintenance (using iManage)
  • Diary management for fee-earners (meetings, in-person/video calls via MS Teams)
  • Client and stakeholder liaison
  • Travel arrangements (UK and international)
  • CRM updates (via InterAction) for business development (BD) initiatives
  • Supporting the billing process (using 3E Elite) and liaising with Accounts & Finance
  • Confidentiality handling (AML processes, document collation)
  • Ad hoc tasks as required

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
