Job Title: Conveyancing Legal Secretary

Location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex

Salary: £27,000-£30,000 (DOE)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Conveyancing Legal Secretary to join a well-established and busy law firm in Southend-on-Sea.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Residential Property team, helping to ensure the smooth progression of conveyancing transactions while delivering an excellent standard of client care. This role is ideally suited to an organised and proactive individual who has previous experience working within a conveyancing department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing full secretarial support to one or more conveyancing fee earners.
  • Preparing legal documents, contracts, correspondence, and completion statements.
  • Audio and copy typing with a high level of accuracy.
  • Opening and closing client files in accordance with firm procedures.
  • Managing diaries, appointments, and meeting arrangements.
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, brokers, and solicitors.
  • Preparing and submitting Land Registry applications and supporting post-completion processes.
  • Assisting with SDLT forms and completion documentation.
  • Managing incoming telephone calls, emails, and client enquiries professionally.
  • Maintaining accurate client records using the firm's case management system.
  • General administrative duties to support the Residential Property department.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Conveyancing Legal Secretary is essential.
  • Strong understanding of the residential conveyancing process.
  • Excellent audio and copy typing skills.
  • Experience preparing legal documentation and correspondence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Experience using legal case management systems.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional, reliable, and client-focused approach.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
