Job Title: Conveyancing Legal Secretary

Location: Romford, Essex

Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Conveyancing Legal Secretary to join a busy and well-established law firm in Romford. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and organised individual with previous conveyancing secretarial experience to support a busy residential property team.

The successful candidate will be confident working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities, and providing high-quality administrative and secretarial support to fee earners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing comprehensive secretarial support to one or more conveyancing fee earners.
  • Preparing legal documents, contracts, completion statements, and correspondence.
  • Managing client files from instruction through to completion and post-completion.
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, solicitors, and other third parties.
  • Handling Land Registry applications and searches.
  • Preparing SDLT forms and supporting post-completion processes.
  • Managing diaries, appointments, and meetings.
  • Audio and copy typing of legal documentation.
  • Opening and closing client files and ensuring compliance with firm procedures.
  • Answering telephone enquiries and providing excellent client care.
  • General administrative duties to support the conveyancing department.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Conveyancing Legal Secretary is essential.
  • Strong understanding of the residential conveyancing process.
  • Excellent audio and copy typing skills with a high level of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook and Excel).
  • Experience using legal case management systems.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional, reliable and client-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
