Join a Specialist Criminal Defence Firm
Our client is a well-established and highly regarded specialist Criminal Defence firm with offices in Manchester and London. They are looking to welcome an experienced Legal Secretary to their close-knit and fast-paced team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy legal environment, enjoys being an integral part of a supportive team, and takes pride in providing first-class administrative support. Previous experience within Criminal Defence is desirable, but candidates with strong legal secretarial experience from other practice areas will also be welcomed.
The Role
This is an office-based position where you will provide high-quality administrative support to a team of solicitors, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the department. Reporting to the Practice Manager and supporting four solicitors, you'll become part of a collaborative administration team while also managing your own workload independently.
No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, can prioritise effectively, and works well under pressure.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
