About the role
We are looking for experienced enthusiastic, friendly and self-motivated Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant to support residents to participate in activities in line with their individual needs and care plan.
Working as part of a friendly and close-knit team, your focus will be:
- Work with the resident to identify strategies and opportunities that maximise engagement and promote healthy lifestyle practices.
- Organise activities for people living with dementia, which aim to maintain independence, using familiar routines and existing skills and promote healthy lifestyle practices and existing skills.
- Use appropriate methods to assess resident’s leisure and health needs according to specific purpose and under the guidance of an experienced worker.
- Collect and review relevant information to establish the needs of residents, based on the leisure and recreation or relevant assessment.
- Develop strategies to deal with challenging behaviour and to maximise resident participation in activities and evaluate effectiveness of strategies as indicated by the response.

Please see below for the working shifts and days allocated to this vacancy:
Week 1 & 2
- Monday to Friday, 55 hours per fortnight, morning shifts.
About you
You are an enthusiastic, motivated, self-starter who is eager to develop a career in aged care. To be considered for these roles, you will need:
- Previous Experience (2 + years) in a similar role
- Certificate III in Leisure and Health or equivalent
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Previous experience working in an aged care facility
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to be self-motivated, work without supervision and promote a positive lifestyle environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Well-developed prioritisation and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
