Job: Level 2 Operator-2
FIXED TERM CONTRACT - 2 YEARS
Shift Pattern: 12 hour shifts
- 2x day shifts (6am - 6pm)
- 2 night shifts (6pm - 6am)
- Followed by 6 days' rest
Continuous shift pattern throughout the year.
Annual Shut Down/ Shut Downs:
- Annual shut down which usually lasts for 1 week. During this period, additional shifts on top of the usual rota are mandatory for all operators. Rota for this period is released a few weeks' prior to the shutdown week.
- There is a 24 hour shut down once every 5 weeks'. During this period, additional shifts are required and mandatory. Additional shifts are stated on the rota when it is issued for the full year (usually issued October for the following year).
Annualised Hours:
Operators work on an annualised hours' basis which equates to 2087 hours per annum (including holidays). Excluding holidays, hours to be actually worked are 1831 per annum. Hours are monitored on a monthly basis and are run from January to December.
Main Responsibilities/ Tasks:
Health and Safety:
- Carry out H&S audits in their area of responsibility during their shift reporting any issues to the shift manager
- Actively drive the H&S standards within their area of responsibility
- Propose H&S improvements to their shift manager/ Level 1 operator and help to implement them
- User of the electronic permit issuing system, working party team member, sign on risk assessments and Isolation Technician
- Feedback on Standard operating procedures where deficiencies found and feedback to shift manager and level 1 operator
- Ensure all mandatory training courses are complete where required

Environment:
- Understand the procedures on management of potential environmental threats and report to their shift manager/ operator level 1
Quality:
- Perform quality checks and if product doesn’t meet the required specifications report to shift manager/ operator level 1 for escalation
- Drive the ECO process ensuring team compliance
Operational Tasks:
- Operate the paper machine process ensuring the paper machine runs efficiently
- Carry out quality checks where required
- React correctly to alarms actioning and reporting as required
- Support level 1’s in safe and efficient start up and shutdown of the plant
- Support level 1’s on maintenance shutdowns ensuring the required tasks are completed safely and efficiently
- Manage housekeeping ensuring they are completing daily housekeeping tasks and monitoring the highest standards are maintained
- Focus on continuous improvement, suggesting improvements to their shift manager/ level 1
- Carry out total preventative maintenance and shift routines, plant walks identifying and reporting issues
- Support level 1’s in resolving problems and finding solutions to current issues
- Form part of emergency response team ensuring all training is completed where required
- Support the shift manager and level 1’s when required
- Step up as level 1 where ability allows (matrix sign off)
