Responsibilities
- Spend 36 months working as a Civil Engineering Apprentice as part of the Flexi-Job Shared Apprenticeship Scheme.
- Work on site and in the office, using setting out equipment and design software.
- Learn to manage the package on site, including costings and staff.
- Assist with site investigations, assessing worth and potential risks of projects.
- Develop blueprints using computer-aided design (CAD).
- Use computer modelling software to analyse surveys and mapping data.
- Liaise with architects, subcontractors, consultants, co-workers, and clients.
- Ensure projects meet legal requirements, monitor progress, and adhere to health and safety standards.
- Resolve design and development problems, including environmental impact and potential risk.
- Manage budgets and other project resources.
- Prepare project bids and reports.
- Review and manage costs such as labour timesheets, plant claims, costings, and material claims.
- Support full package cost audits.
- Learn and apply civil engineering principles, techniques, and methods.
- Collect, analyse, and evaluate data and technical information to support civil engineering models, designs, and technical solutions.
- Operate software packages for data gathering and analysis (e.g., CAD, BIM) to create technical drawings, models, and designs.
- Apply statutory health, safety, and welfare policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Use risk management processes, procedures, and documentation.
- Support and contribute to the production or modification of civil engineering technical solutions.
- Apply environmental policies and sustainable principles in civil engineering projects.
- Plan, carry out, and manage own work in line with quality assurance.
- Consider equality, diversity, and inclusion in the delivery of civil engineering projects.
- Apply document control processes and procedures.
- Communicate using appropriate methods for the audience.
- Apply ethical principles to civil engineering projects.
- Plan, undertake, and review own professional competence.

- Wage: £26,936 a year
- Training Course: Civil engineering technician (level 3)
- Hours: Monday-Friday, minimum of 35 hours per week (potential for more). Approx. 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (hours to be confirmed by the contractor).
- Duration: 3 years
- Start Date: Sunday 19 July 2026
- On completion: Eligible for a CSCS Supervisor (Gold) Card. Potential to work as a qualified Asst. Civil/Setting Out Engineer, progressing to senior positions, management, self-employment, or business ownership.
