Level 3 Early Years Practitioner – Sunderland
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Level 3 Early Years Practitioner to join a welcoming and supportive Early Years setting in Sunderland from August 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner who is committed to providing high-quality care and education while helping young children develop confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.
The setting is committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to learn through play, exploration, and positive relationships. Staff work collaboratively to provide high-quality Early Years provision that supports each child's individual development, wellbeing, and independence.
As a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner, you will play a key role in supporting children's learning and development, working closely with colleagues and families to provide engaging learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
This is a full-time, permanent position starting in August 2026. The setting operates between 07:30 and 18:00, with flexibility available around working hours within these operating times.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and education for children within the Early Years setting.
- Plan and deliver engaging, play-based learning activities in line with the EYFS framework.
- Support children's communication, language, physical, social, and emotional development.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.
- Observe, assess, and record children's progress, contributing to planning and individual next steps.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers, and colleagues.
- Promote children's independence, confidence, and wellbeing through positive interactions.
- Support daily routines and ensure children's individual care needs are met.
- Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and setting policies are followed at all times.
- Work collaboratively as part of the wider Early Years team to provide exceptional provision.

Essential Criteria
- A minimum recognised Level 3 qualification in Early Years or Childcare – essential.
- Candidates who are currently working towards their Level 3 Early Years qualification will be considered, provided the qualification will be completed before August 2026.
- A sound understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach to supporting young children.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Flexibility to work full-time hours within the setting's operating hours of 07:30–18:00.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred Criteria
- Previous experience working within a nursery or Early Years setting.
- Experience supporting babies, toddlers, or preschool-aged children.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification.
- Knowledge of child development and effective observation and assessment practices.
- Experience planning engaging Early Years activities and learning opportunities.
