Level 3 HR Apprenticeship at Yorkshire Learning Trust
Please note, this role is to start in September 2026
Start your HR career with an exciting apprenticeship opportunity within our Trust. As an HR Administrator Apprentice, you will support the delivery of an efficient and compliant HR service while gaining valuable hands-on experience across a range of HR activities, working closely with and learning from an HR Advisor.
Apprenticeship Overview:
- Salary: £8.00 an hour, Automatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19+ year olds
- Working Week: Monday - Friday 9am - 4.30pm (20-minute lunch break)
- Hours: 37 hours per week
- Duration: 19 months
- Qualification: Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship standard qualification
- Training: Online training supported by our dedicated tutor
- Location: North Crescent, Sherburn In Elmet, Leeds, LS25 6DD

As a HR Apprentice, you will:
- Maintain accurate employee records on HR systems and personnel files
- Support onboarding processes, including contracts, pre-employment checks, and induction administration
- Assist with absence monitoring and data tracking
- Prepare standard HR documentation (letters, forms, reports)
- Handle routine HR queries from staff, signposting where appropriate
- Coordinate interview arrangements (invites, packs, logistics)
- Support safer recruitment processes, including DBS and SCR checks
- Liaise with candidates and hiring managers
- Assist with inputting and checking payroll changes
- Maintain data accuracy across HR and payroll systems
- Support reporting requirements (e.g., staffing data, absence trends)
- Assist with HR projects and initiatives (e.g., system implementation, policy updates, and wellbeing initiatives)
- Gather and organise data to support project work
- Help prepare communications, templates, and guidance materials
- Participate in project meetings and take notes/actions
- Provide admin support to ensure project milestones are met

Qualifications:
- GCSEs in English and Maths at grades 4–9 (A*–C) desirable

Essential:
- Good organisational and administrative skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
- Basic IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Office)
- Willingness to learn and develop within HR
Desirable:
- Interest in HR or working towards/keen to start a HR qualification
- Experience of working in an administrative or customer-facing role
- Awareness of HR processes or education sector environment
- Ability to drive between school sites

Potential full-time employment for the right candidate upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
