Wage
- £12,480 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age
- National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices
- Minimum wage rates (opens in new tab)
- For the first 12 months, you will be paid £8:00 per hour; this will increase to the national living wage for the remainder of the apprenticeship contract.

- Monday - Friday 08:30 - 15:30. Total working time is 30 hours per week, term time only.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Work with class teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils within the school
- Promote pupils' independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion
- Provide support to pupils 1:1, or in groups, to help them access the curriculum, participate in learning, and experience a sense of achievement
- Offer interventions with a group of targeted children to achieve their learning potential
- Carry out tasks relating to children’s learning and their welfare
- Be committed to the safeguarding of children and equal opportunities

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Apply strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners.
- Adapt communication strategies for the audience and context.
- Apply behaviour management strategies in line with organisational policy.
- Adapt resources to support all learners.
- Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA’s role.
- Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
- Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals, and stakeholders.
- Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding, and health & safety.
- Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
- Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
- Apply methods of formative assessment.
- Use up-to-date technology safely, to support learning.
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
- Provide feedback to learners.

Training schedule

- You will attend online sessions and be required to produce written work.
- Be observed during your real work activities.
- Attend regular reviews with your training provider and supervisor.

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a training organisation. At least 348 of your working hours, during your contract of employment for this post, will be spent training or studying towards your apprenticeship.
Desirable qualifications
- GCSE in:
- English (grade 9-4)
- Mathematics (grade 9-4)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements
As part of our commitment to Safeguarding, you will be required to undergo pre-employment checks. The interview date will be 3rd August 2026, with the start date to be confirmed as soon as a DBS has been completed.
