Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship - The Gatwick School
The Gatwick School is an all-through school providing education for pupils across primary and secondary phases. The school is committed to delivering a supportive and inclusive learning environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their full academic and personal potential.
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and committed individual to join us as a Teaching Assistant Apprentice. The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for supporting children and young people in their learning and development and will be eager to gain hands-on experience within a busy all-through school environment.
Apprenticeship Summary
- Salary: £12,480 per year (based on £8.00 per hour)
- Working Week: Monday to Friday, 8:45am - 3:15pm (including 30-minute lunch)
- Hours: 30 hours per week
- Apprenticeship Training: Online apprenticeship training supported by skilled tutors
- Qualification: Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard
- Location: Northwest House, Tinsley Lane North, Crawley, RH10 9TP

The Role
As a Teaching Assistant Apprentice, you will work under the direction of teaching staff to support pupils' learning, development and wellbeing across the school. You will assist in delivering high-quality learning support, help maintain a positive classroom environment, and contribute to the overall ethos of the school. You will support individuals and small groups of pupils, helping them to access learning and develop confidence both academically and socially.

Main Duties
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
- Work with individual pupils and small groups to support learning
- Assist in maintaining a positive and well-managed classroom environment
- Support pupils' social, emotional and behavioural development
- Help prepare classroom resources and learning materials
- Assist in monitoring and recording pupil progress as directed
- Support behaviour management strategies in line with school policy
- Contribute to a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment
- Supervise pupils during lessons, break times or school activities where required
- Carry out general classroom support tasks (e.g. Photocopying, displays, organisation of resources)
- Support safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection procedures
- Contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, reliable and committed to supporting children's learning and development. They will demonstrate a positive attitude, strong communication skills and a willingness to learn within a school environment.
Skills And Experience
- Commitment to completing a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to work independently when required
- Positive, patient and flexible approach
- Good organisational skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Willingness to undertake training and professional development
- Understanding or willingness to learn about school systems and processes

Training and Development
As an apprentice, you will receive a combination of on-the-job training and formal learning, including:
- Completion of a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard
- Regular mentoring and support from experienced staff
- Ongoing progress reviews and development meetings
- Training to support classroom practice and professional development
