About the Role
Are you a committed, caring professional passionate about supporting pupils in Early Years with SEND, particularly those with ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition)?
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Teaching Assistant to join our hardworking team in our Early Years or KS1 Resource Base classes. Topcliffe School is an inclusive one-form entry mainstream school with specialist Resource Base provisions that support pupils with Autism and/or Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

Responsibilities & Requirements
What You’ll Do
- Work within Early Years or KS1 Resource Base settings
- Provide tailored 1:1 or small-group support for pupils with complex needs
- Foster play-based learning to develop communication skills, sensory processing, and independence
- Develop and deliver personalised interventions to support emotional, social, and academic progression
- Utilise various communication tools and strategies (e.g., PECS, visual supports, Makaton) for children with limited verbal expression
- Collaborate with autism-specialist services (e.g., SETTs, speech & language therapy)
- Maintain robust child observance and attainment records
Who We’re Looking For
You’ll be:
- Experienced in Early Years and/or SEND settings, with an understanding of the role of play in learning
- Proficient in supporting pupils with Autism, complex sensory needs, and communication difficulties
- Inclusive by nature, with the ability to adapt strategies to meet individual needs
- Passionate about inclusive education, able to think creatively to maximise every child’s potential
- A positively-driven team player, maintaining high expectations for pupils
- Committed to continuing professional development (CPD)
