Location: DPD Reading – 2 Imperial Way, Reading RG2 0SL Contract Type: Permanent (40 hours per week) Days of Work: Monday to Friday Start Window: 14:00 – 18:00
About the Role

At DPD, we’re looking for an LGV Relief/Tramper Driver to become a critical link in our national logistics network. This is a "lifestyle" role designed for those who balance autonomy, modern equipment, and a structured routine.
As a DPD driver, you’ll handle major bulk movements between our sites and key customers across the UK. You’re not just a driver—you’re a part of the backbone of parcel delivery and e-commerce solutions, provided by Geopost, a global leader in logistics.

Financial & Daily Benefits
- Pay Rate: £16.35 per hour, plus £2.72 per hour night premium
- Daily Allowance: £28.67 (combined for food & subsistence)

Key Responsibilities
As a Relief/Tramper Driver, you’ll:
- Transport pallet loads nationwide using our modern HGV fleet – your cab becomes your mobile office.
- Operate independently with minimal supervision, managing your routes and adherence to schedules using cutting-edge GPS and logistics technology.
- Ensure safe, efficient deliveries, pushing the boundaries of the country’s supply chain.
- Uphold DPD’s core values: Passion, Respect, Honesty, Flexibility, Caring, and Accountability.
A Day in the Role:
- 4 nights out per week (you’ll stay in DPD’s fully equipped, secure sites).
- Apply your geographic expertise to navigate the UK efficiently.
- Manage pressure and problem-solving, staying adaptable to meet deadlines and service expectations.
Requirements & Qualifications
Checklist for Candidates
✅ Valid Licences & Compliance:
- UK Class 1 (Cat CE) Commercial Driver Licence
- Digital Tachograph Card
- Correct Prozacet CPC (if applicable)

- Minimum 12 months’ driving experience in Class 1 vehicles
- Proven ability to operate within strict timelines while handling bulk shipments efficiently

- Resourceful problem-solver, suited to high-responsibility roles
- Strong alignment with DPD’s company principles
✅ Essential Skills:
- Exceptional UK road navigation knowledge
- Adaptability to work primarily in overnight shifts
