Team Leader LGV Driver
Location: Bath & North East Somerset Council Service: Waste & Recycling
At Bath & North East Somerset Council, our overriding purpose is to improve people’s lives. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Team Leader LGV Driver to support our Waste & Recycling service in a hands-on, frontline role. This position involves safe and efficient waste and recycling collections, driving LGV vehicles, and leading a small operational team across the district.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive and operate LGV vehicles and associated equipment safely and efficiently
- Lead and supervise a small crew on allocated routes
- Conduct waste and recycling collections adhering to health & safety standards
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations
- Perform vehicle checks and maintain logs/reports
- Respond to operational issues, escalating as necessary
- Foster teamwork, communication, and collaboration
- Support service improvements
About You
We are looking for an experienced LGV driver with strong leadership abilities, who embodies:

- Reliable and proactive attitude
- Excellent communication skills

Essential Requirements
✅ LGV (Category C) licence ✅ Driver CPC ✅ Proven experience operating LGV vehicles ✅ Ability to supervise and lead a team ✅ Understanding of health & safety legislation ✅ Capacity to perform physical outdoor work
Desirable Skills & Experience
🔹 Experience in waste and recycling sectors 🔹 Familiarity with plant operations (e.g., forklifts, loading shovels, telehandlers) 🔹 Basic IT proficiency
Working Environment
This role is physically demanding, requiring:
- Manual handling and outdoor work
- Bracing all weather conditions
- Exposure to noise, odours, and public environments
