Remuneration: £52,000 per annum + £1,000 working from home allowance
Contract Type: Permanent/Full-time – 40 hours per week
Location: Home-based/various UK meeting locations as required

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Liaison/Triage Practitioner to join our established Liaison Nurse Team (LNT), bridging expertise in mental health and delivering the Northeast and North Cumbria (NENC) Neurodevelopmental Triage Service.
The Opportunity
This varied clinical role combines remote work with occasional travel for face-to-face meetings. You’ll:
- Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide expert guidance.
- Assess and manage risk, including neurodevelopmental presentations and safeguarding concerns.
- Ensure patients access timely, equitable, and high-quality care under national guidelines.

You’ll also support Psychiatry UK’s alternatives to traditional NHS pathways, improving access for neurodevelopmental support assessments while upholding robust risk assessment standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical advice to Psychiatrists, Prescribers, and the wider MDT.
- Assess mental state, clinical presentations, and risk via telephone/remote consultations.
- Carry out NENC Neurodevelopmental Triage andLomplex mental health cases using evidence-based decision-making.
- Make autonomous risk-based decisions, escalating matters when necessary.
- Maintain comprehensive clinical records in electronic systems.
- Promote shared decision-making, advising patients on assessment, treatment, and onward care.
- Collaborate with NHS partners, colleagues, and external agencies to coordinate care.
- Contribute to service development and policy reviews.
- Conduct safeguarding assessments and respond within organisational protocols.
- Balance varied workload while upholding professional standards.
- Stay up-to-date with legislation, guidance, and best practice.
- Engage in clinical supervision, training, and CPD.

Requirements
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Registered Nurse (NMC) or Occupational Therapist (HCPC) with active professional registration.
- Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in a relevant mental health setting or proven autonomy in decision-making.
- Evidence of CPD and active development.
- Experience with adult neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Skills in triage, risk assessment, and patient-centred care.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, functional impairment, and co-occurring mental health needs.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage workloads.
- Advanced IT proficiency for remote/digital work and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Poor legal awareness of ADHD, autism, and broader mental health frameworks.
- Flexibility to adapt to a fast-evolving service.
- Enhanced DBS clearance (your cost).

Desirable Additional Assets
- Neurodevelopmental/mental health postgraduate qualifications.
- Experience with ADHD or autism assessment/treatment pathways.
- Remote healthcare, liaison psychiatry, or community mental health background.
