Role: Libraries, Resources & Study Skills Assistant
Location: Tresham College – Kettering Campus
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £24,552 and £26,754 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, People’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 38 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Term Time

About The Role
We are currently seeking a Libraries, Resources & Study Skills Assistant to join our Libraries and Learning Resources department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Libraries, Resources & Study Skills Assistant, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Study Skills & Learner Support - Deliver engaging one-to-one and group study skills sessions, helping students develop research, literacy, independent learning, and academic skills to support their success and progression.
- Library & Learning Resource Services - Provide frontline support to students and staff, assisting with access to and effective use of physical and digital learning resources, online databases, and library systems.
- Digital Skills & Information Guidance - Support learners in using IT systems, Microsoft Office applications, accessibility software, the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), and online research tools.
- Library Operations & Student Engagement - Manage day-to-day library activities including resource loans, returns, reservations, and records management, while creating displays and promotional activities that encourage library use and student participation.
- Collaboration, Inclusion & Professional Standards - Work closely with curriculum teams and colleagues to maintain relevant resources, promote inclusive learning, support sustainability objectives, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety, and professional development responsibilities.
About You
- Education, Training & Study Skills Support - Good standard of education including GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent), with experience delivering lessons, training sessions, presentations, and providing clear guidance and instruction to learners.
- Digital Literacy & Information Skills - Excellent IT skills with experience using Windows-based applications, Microsoft Office, and internet research tools, alongside a willingness to learn and develop new technologies and systems.
- Communication, Customer Service & Behaviour Management - Strong communication and customer support skills, with the ability to manage learner behaviour effectively, handle frontline challenges professionally, and build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Organisation, Independence & Teamwork - Well-organised, reliable, and self-motivated, with the ability to manage priorities independently while also contributing positively as a collaborative and supportive team member.
- Professional Values & Personal Attributes - Creative, enthusiastic, patient, and inclusive, with a commitment to equality, diversity, and learner success, flexibility to work evenings or weekends when required, and a strong commitment to Bedford College Group’s values and continuous improvement.

About The Bedford College Group
The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
Today, the Group is made up of a family of colleges across Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire: Bedford College, Central Bedfordshire College and Tresham College in the towns of Bedford, Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard, Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough; Shuttleworth College, a specialist land-based college; The Bedford Sixth Form, (the only dedicated sixth form in Bedford); The Corby Sixth Form, (opened in September 2023); and the National College for Motorsport alongside Silverstone race circuit.
