Library & Outreach Assistant

Permanent | 21 hours per week (Part Time) / 36 hours per week (Full Time)

Salary: £30,717 – £32,070 p.a. (including London weighting) Location: Brent Libraries

About Brent and the Role

Brent is a dynamic London borough known for its cultural diversity and iconic landmarks like Wembley Stadium. Our council is driving a major transformation to better serve the needs of our community, making it an exciting time to join us.

We’ve recently refurbished the Resident Hub and Wembley Library, and reopened Kilburn Library after a £1m investment. As part of Brent Libraries, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, customer-focused learning and information services—including self-service technology, extensive book collections, community-led services, and a vibrant year-round programme of events.

This role is perfect for someone passionate about reading, community engagement, and inclusive services. You’ll help design and deliver events for all age groups, support housebound services, promote library offerings, and work proactively in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Engagement & Enquiries:

    • Handling a wide range of library enquiries efficiently and professionally.
    • Signposting customers to relevant council departments and external organisations.
    • Delivering excellent customer service in a fully front-facing role.
  • Event & Activity Delivery:

    • Designing, leading, and facilitating engaging community events (e.g., children’s sessions, adult workshops, family programmes).
    • Planning class visits and outreach activities for underserved groups.
    • Ensuring activities are inclusive, creative, and community-responsive.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
