Library & Information Coordinator
Library and Information Coordinator – Permanent (Term Time Only)
Department: Central ILT Location: Sandwell College Compensation: £17,836 per year Application Deadline: 7 July 2026
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Library and Information Coordinator to join our IT and Network Services team at Sandwell College for a permanent, term time-only opportunity.
This is an exciting chance for a customer-focused individual with experience in library services, information management, and digital technologies. You will play a key role in supporting both students and staff by delivering an excellent library and learning resource service, promoting digital literacy, and helping learners access the resources they need to succeed.
Working closely with curriculum teams, Learning Centre Assistants, and IT Services colleagues, you will:
- Coordinate library operations
- Support digital innovation initiatives
- Contribute to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment across the College.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage library operations, including:
- Staffing library desks
- Issuing and receiving resources
- Supporting users with information needs
- Coordinate the work of Learning Centre Assistants and ensure high-quality customer service
- Develop and maintain:
- Library collections
- Catalogues
- Digital resources (collaboration with curriculum teams)
- Plan and deliver:
- Library, information literacy, and IT induction sessions for students and staff
- Workshops on citation, referencing, and plagiarism awareness
- Promote Learning Centre resources and services across the College
- Support and champion AI and digital innovation initiatives
- Provide first-line digital support in partnership with IT Services teams
- Monitor and maintain:
- Library systems
- Resources
- Learning materials
- Support students and staff with access to:
- IT
- Audio-visual technologies
- Contribute to continuous improvement of library services

Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
- Level 2 or higher qualification in IT/ICT
- Level 3 or higher qualification in:
- Library, Information Science
- Related discipline
- Experience working in:
- A library, learning resource centre, or similar educational environment
- Experience with:
- Library management systems
- Maintaining catalogues
- Supporting students and staff with:
- Information needs
- Learning and digital resources
- Ability to:
- Deliver presentations, inductions, or workshops
- Supervise and coordinate the work of others
Essential Skills
- Strong digital literacy and comfort using:
- IT and audio-visual technologies
- Customer-focused approach with teaching and organisational skills
