Library Schools Engagement Officer

Library

Location: Bailrigg, Lancaster, UK

Salary: £33,002 to £37,694 (Full-Time/Fixed-Term)

Closing Date: Saturday 18 July 2026

Interview Date: To be confirmed

Reference: 0569-26

Please note: this job is only available to current employees of Lancaster University

Our library vision, The Library Towards 2025, sets out our ambitions to be a library that is connected, that goes beyond providing just a service and building, and works in partnership with all Lancaster University communities. Central to this vision is the work of the Library Teaching and Engagement team, who are the interface between the faculties, departments and the library, and who engage with the wider community, developing partnerships with local schools, colleges and community groups.

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join the Library Teaching and Engagement team within Academic Services as the Library Schools Engagement Officer. The post is integral to the delivery of the Library Schools Engagement Programme as part of a Widening Participation funded project, working with year 12 and 13 students in targeted schools and colleges. Through the project students will experience what it is like to study at university and the programme will contribute to raising attainment. The post holder will contribute to other Schools Outreach projects and activities at Lancaster University.

You will be responsible for delivering high quality Library activities for schools and college students and provide opportunities for visits to Lancaster University and the Library. You will be the key point of contact between the school or college and the Library, collaborating with teachers and other education professionals to develop these activities and customise the Library offer for targeted schools. You will manage a team of Library Schools Engagement Ambassadors, coordinating their work and the work of colleagues across the Library Schools Engagement Team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
