What You’ll Do
- Create a welcome and inclusive space while supporting customers of all ages to engage with library services.
- Lead Rhyme Time and Story Time sessions, and promote reading initiatives such as the Summer Reading Challenge.
- Perform manual tasks, including moving furniture, lifting boxes, and setting up activity areas.
- Help customers build digital confidence across devices (e.g., computers, tablets) and assist with admin tasks such as payments, bookings, and stock management.
- Promote library services through social media and collaborate with external partners to engage the wider community.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a busy, customer-facing role with a friendly and inclusive approach to working with the public.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to different people and situations.
- Strong digital skills, including confidence in using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and the ability to learn new systems.
- Willingness to use or learn social media to engage with the community, or openness to training.
- Physical ability to carry out manual tasks such as handling stock and setting up spaces.

- Main Base: Emsworth Library (weekly shift at Havant Library)
- Monday off | Tuesday (9am–1.30pm) | Wednesday off | Thursday (9am–1.30pm, Havant Library) | Friday (9am–1.30pm) | Saturday (9am–1.30pm)
