Job Overview

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board provides a high-quality library and knowledge service to support evidence-based clinical practice, and the educational and information needs of all staff and students on placement.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Library Technician to join our friendly team at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, North Wales.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with good organisational skills and an interest in library and information services to contribute to the delivery of a busy NHS library service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main Duties of the Job

The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operation of the library service, working closely with the Library Services Manager and wider team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing a welcoming front-line service, assisting library users with enquiries and access to resources
  • Supporting circulation activities including issuing, returning, and shelving stock
  • Assisting with the maintenance of library stock, including cataloguing support, stock checks, and processing new materials
  • Using the Library Management System to carry out routine tasks and maintain accurate records
  • Supporting users to access electronic resources and online journals
  • Assisting with document supply services, including inter-library loans and article requests
  • Contributing to the display, promotion and marketing of library services
  • Supporting the delivery of basic user guidance and signposting to appropriate resources
  • Assisting with administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of the service

The role may also involve supporting activities and services for staff and students across the Health Board.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
