Licencing Support Analyst

Licencing Support Advisor – Work Level 6C

Salary: £25,430 to £27,000 plus excellent benefits Location: Manchester city centre (hybrid working – policy details)

About the Role

We’re seeking a Licencing Support Advisor to join our Business Support Services team within Co-op Business Services (CBS), an inclusive organisation supporting £8bn+ of Co-op member-owned retail businesses.

Your work will reinforce Co-op’s group vision: "co-operating to build more value for member-owners every day". Here, you’ll help ensure compliance with licencing laws while supporting stores, suppliers, and colleagues—keeping of-community businesses safe, compliant, and thriving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Licensing administration:

    • Process applications, paperwork, and payments to meet UK licencing laws.
    • Work closely with Licencing Practitioners on commercial and regulatory tasks.
  • Data compliance:

    • Maintain accurate records and GDPR-compliant data integrity across licencing workflows.
  • Project support:

    • Assist with larger transformation projects, often collaborationing across teams (Legal, Finance, Property, Operations).

  • Customer and supplier relations:
    • Liaise with food retail colleagues, local authorities, and legal suppliers to resolve queries promptly.
    • Advise colleagues on the legal trade of licenced goods (e.g., alcohol).

What You’ll Bring

We welcome applications from anyone who meets these minimum technical/cognitive criteria:

  • Strong attention to detail with accuracy in updating critical records.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to handle and analyse large volumes of data efficiently. -Confidence using Office tools (Microsoft Word/Excel) and a readiness to learn third-party systems.

Note: We do not ask for qualifications or proportionality baggage. Training will be provided, including acquiring a personal alcohol licence for this role.
