Licencing Support Advisor (Work Level 6C)
:** £25,430 to £27,000 plus excellent benefits
Location: Manchester city centre (hybrid working between home and two days per week in the office) More info: hybrid working policy
About the Role
We're looking for a Licencing Support Advisor to join our Business Support Services team within our wider Co-op Business Services (CBS) organisation. CBS comprises diverse teams dedicated to delivering high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective business services across the Co-op.
As a Licencing Support Advisor, you’ll play a key role in supporting and realising our group vision of "co-operating to build more value for member-owners every day".
In this role, you’ll provide administrative and operational support for alcohol licencing, legality requirements, and compliance efforts within our food retail stores. This involves managing licencing applications, maintaining accurate records, ensuring GDPR compliance, and collaborating across multiple teams.

Responsibilities
You’ll be responsible for:
- Processing and administrating alcohol licencing applications to ensure full compliance with UK laws.
- Supporting Licencing Practitioners with:
- Managing voluminous paperwork and incoming requests.
- Processing payments and assisting with applications.
- Maintaining accurate, GDPR-compliant records.
- Participating in licensing transformation projects.
- Collaborating with Legal, Finance, Food Operations, and Property teams.
- Providing behavioural insights and legal trade guidance to store colleagues.
- Managing external relationships with local authorities, regulatory bodies, and external legal suppliers.

What You’ll Need
Our roles are designed to be as accessible as possible, so we only ask for minimum essential criteria. To succeed here, you’ll bring:
- An eye for detail to ensure records are up-to-date and compliant in strictly regulated environments.
- Strong communications and customer service skills to liaise effectively with colleagues and external bodies.
- Data fluency to manage large volumes of licencing and administrative data.
- Familiarity with IT systems, including Microsoft Office suite, with the willingness to learn new platforms.
Training and a personal alcohol licence will be provided.
