Job Title: Licensed Aircraft Engineer

Location: Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, England
Compensation: £49,015.00 + Benefits
Role Type: Full time / Permanent
Role ID: SF71694

Help keep vital aircraft flying safely and support critical aviation operations.

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as a Licensed Aircraft Engineer at our site in RAF Wittering, supporting essential operations across our Aviation business.

The Role

As a Licensed Aircraft Engineer, you’ll carry out aircraft engineering, line and depth maintenance, and all associated activities to ensure aircraft are safe, serviceable, and ready to meet customer and contractual requirements. Working with a team of Mechanical and Avionic Engineers, you’ll support the generation and release to service of aircraft in accordance with civilian regulations and Babcock approvals.

Day-to-day, you’ll be:

  • Delivering aircraft maintenance in line with regulatory, safety, and company requirements.
  • Leading and supporting technicians and inspectors during maintenance activities.
  • Conducting fault diagnosis and problem-solving within a technical engineering environment.
  • Ensuring all engineering activities comply with legislation, procedures, and customer expectations.
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues, the Site Operations Manager, and wider stakeholders to maintain operational output.

This role is full-time, working 40 hours per week, and is based on site at RAF Wittering, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire. You will be working 40 hours per week on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, including weekends. Shifts typically run 07:30–19:30, and patterns may vary depending on operational needs.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
