Role Description: Licensed Conveyancer (Full-Time, On-Site, St Albans)

The Licensed Conveyancer will manage a varied caseload of residential and, where applicable, commercial property transactions—from instruction to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Core Transactional Work:
    • Handle residential sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, and lease extensions.
    • Draft and review contracts, title reports, and other conveyancing documentation.

  • Client Management:

    • Liaise effectively with clients, estate agents, lenders, and other solicitors.
    • Provide clear communication, maintain timely updates, and deliver high-quality client care.
  • Compliance & Documentation:

    • Ensure adherence to regulatory and anti-money laundering requirements.
    • Maintain accurate file records and contribute to process improvements within the conveyancing team.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Licensed Conveyancer qualification (or equivalent, e.g., a solicitor with substantial conveyancing experience).
  • Proven track record in residential property work.
  • Strong technical knowledge of:
    • Conveyancing law (including Land Registry procedures).
    • Leasehold and freehold issues.
    • Mortgage lender requirements.

  • Exemplary client care and communication skills—ability to explain legal matters clearly and manage client expectations.

  • Strong file management, time management, and organisational skills to handle a busy caseload and meet deadlines.

  • Proficient with case management systems and standard IT tools (e.g., Microsoft Office).

  • Attention to detail and risk awareness, with commitment to:

    • Regulatory compliance.
    • Data protection.
    • Anti-money laundering procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contributing to a positive office culture and supporting colleagues.

Additional Preference

  • Experience working in a high-quality, client-focused private practice environment.
  • Local market knowledge of St Albans and surrounding areas (advantageous).
