About the Role
The Miscellaneous Licensing Team within Environmental Health and Licensing is seeking to recruit a dynamic, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our dedicated and hard-working team.
Responsibilities
The team administers and enforces a wide range of licences and registrations. This varied role involves undertaking enforcement duties relating to alcohol licensing, gambling licensing, charity collections, scrap metal dealers, caravan sites, petroleum and explosives, registration of tattooists and skin piercers
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Responding to complaints
- Inspecting licensed premises
- Preparing reports for Licensing Committees
- Presenting those reports at committee meetings
- Providing advice and guidance on licensing matters to residents, licence holders and partner agencies

Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Experience of working with the public and with enforcement activities
- Strong investigative skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal confidently with challenging and confrontational situations
- Good IT skills and experience of maintaining accurate and detailed records using computerised databases
Working Conditions
Working closely with a range of partner organisations, you will help create and maintain a safe environment for licensed activities, promote consistent standards and take appropriate enforcement action where compliance cannot be achieved through other means.
This is a hybrid role. The postholder will be required to work outside normal office hours, including evenings and weekends, when necessary.
