Are you an experienced licensing professional looking for a varied and rewarding role where you can make a real difference to public safety and local communities?

We do things well and keep developing.

We are seeking a Licensing Officer to join our Commercial Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering the Council’s statutory licensing functions, ensuring compliance with licensing legislation, supporting local businesses, and helping to protect residents and visitors across the district.

As a Licensing Officer, you will manage a wide range of licensing applications, ensuring they are processed and determined within statutory timescales. You will provide expert advice to applicants, businesses, elected members, and partner agencies while balancing legislative requirements, council policies, and public interest considerations.

The role may require travel throughout the district, and occasional evening work may be required to support inspections, hearings, and meetings.

You will be a motivated and organized professional with experience in local authority licensing and a strong understanding of licensing legislation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
