Lifecycle Project Assistant
Lifecycle and Handback Project Manager (Project Assistant)

UHND Durham
Working Hours
37.5 hours per week (equivalent to 38.75 hours), Monday to Friday

As a Project Assistant supporting the Lifecycle and Handback Project Manager, you’ll fulfil this iconic UK’s largest family-owned infrastructure business.

Main Purpose of the Job
To assist the Lifecycle Project Manager and Coordinator in managing lifecycle projects from issue to completion, ensuring adherence to targets in safety, quality, scope, and productivity. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with the Lifecycle Project Team, Contract Manager, and engineering staff to support site-based activities.
- Maintaining a harmonious working relationship between the project team and client representatives.
- Ensuring projects meet the highest standards throughout every phase.
Key Responsibilities
Project Support and Administration
- Work closely with the Lifecycle Project Team, Contract Manager, and engineering managers to coordinate on-site activities.
- Develop and monitor works programmes to track progress.
- Manage all administrative tasks associated with project delivery, including:
- Organising and maintaining project documentation.
- Compiling site folders with pre-construction and construction-phase plans.
- Assist in sub-contractor meetings and prepare relevant reports.

Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Compile and review Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and the Health & Safety Plan, ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations (acting as a record-keeper under the Principal Contractor’s authority).
- Monitor adherence to:
- Company Quality Procedure and Manual
- Current Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) legislation
- Key quality and contractual standards
- Report contractual risk situations to the Project Manager.
Quality Assurance and Handback
- Oversee the quality of works on site to ensure a snag-free handback.
- Collaborate to minimise post-completion defects and ensure smooth transition to handback.
Meetings and Communication
- Attend site and office meetings as required, independently or in support of managers.
- Assess sub-contractor submissions and advise the Project Manager.
- Correspond on behalf of the team with internal/external stakeholders as directed.
Other Duties
- Willingness to take on additional tasks as necessary to meet project demands.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential
- Previous experience in facilities management or construction/project administration.
- Ability to communicate effectively with:
- Colleagues,
- Direct labour,
- Sub-contractors, and
- Clients.
- Practical understanding of:
- Construction lifecycle processes
- Health & Safety legislation (CPD on compliance appreciated)
- Common construction contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT).
- Strong problem-solving skills, diligent: comfortable taking responsibility and working proactively with minimal supervision.

Technical
- Familiarity with CATB SMSTS 5-day standard (advantageous).
- Competent in IT tools, with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project as essential.
