About the Role: Lifeguard
If you’re passionate about helping others and love creating great experiences, you’ll feel right at home with us. You don’t need to be an expert to get started—we’ll give you all the training and support you need.

Key Responsibilities
In the role of Lifeguard, you will:
- Ensure the best levels of service for our customers through friendly, clean, and safe facilities.
- Monitor pool areas to maintain safety standards.
- Provide customer-focused care, supporting all ages and abilities.
- Work flexibly to meet the needs of our communities (e.g., rotas running Monday to Sunday).
- Uphold Freedom Leisure’s values of inclusion, accessibility, and exceptional service.
Note: We aren’t looking for the next Duncan Goodhew, but you must be able to swim competently. If you need extra coaching, our excellent swim teachers will support you to improve.
Requirements
Essential:
- NPLQ qualification (training can be provided).
- Competent swimmer (we’ll coach if needed).
- Passionate about the leisure industry—your energy and enthusiasm matter.
- Team player—able to work across our organisation and support colleagues.
- Customer-focused mind-set—relatable, approachable, and empathetic.
Desired:
- Experience in a customer-facing or sports environment (helpful but not essential).

Additional Checks:
- Enhanced DBS check required.
- Commitment to safeguarding vulnerable groups (children/youth/vulnerable adults).

Hours & Contract
- 37 hours per week (Monday to Sunday, on a rota basis).
- Salary: up to £24,519 per annum (dependent on experience).
- Potential for career progression with fully funded training opportunities.
