Lifeguard Role – Full/Part-Time (Inclusive Opportunities)

About the Role

We’re seeking Lifeguards to join our dynamic Places Leisure team, where you’ll work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This role isn’t just about safety—it’s about inspiring others to deliver their best and giving our customers unforgettable experiences.

Scarce resources to begin with but not a prerequisite—we’re here to help you grow. With ongoing training, apprenticeships, and routes to develop skills in Operational Management, Sales, Fitness, or Customer Service, you can turn this into a huge career opportunity.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Safety:

    • Oversee on-site pool and leisure activities while adhering to Gold Card policies.
    • Be a responsible role model for junior lifeguards in a fun, secure environment.
  • Safety Compliance:

    • Work closely with our ** juta**, ensuring security and regulatory standards are met.
    • Conduct daily safety checks on pool and equipment facilities.
  • Customer Care:

    • Deliver top-tier customer service, promoting an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcomed and valued.
  • Upskilling Initiatives:

    • Engage in continuous personal and professional development—from NPLQ courses to first-aid certifications.

  • Hold or meet knowledgeable standards in:
    • NPLQ (National Pools Lifeguard Qualification) or something close to it, having met both the government criteria and personal assessment.
  • Strong pools qualification: at least Grade 3 qualifications in swimming and instructing.
  • Creating and maintaining an inclusive facility–all aspects related to lifeguarding and satellite centres will be met.

Desired Qualities (would be great if applicable:):

  • Gold Card Registration is supported/recommended.
  • Previous experience onsite or within pool services.
  • Understand the role of assistant managers and sometimes covering for them.
