Head Lift Engineer (Lifting & Access Engineer) – Glasgow – Flexible Working Hours
About the Role
Join Stannah, a family-owned manufacturing and engineering company, pioneering lifts, stairlifts, and escalators for 20+ years! Our global leader in access solutions needs skilled Lift Engineers for Glasgow, with a focus on stairlifts, lifts, and escalators.
Key Points ✔ Full UK/Overseas Route Coverage: Maintain and repair industrial lifts across Glasgow and commutable regions. ✔ Practical Trade Qualification Required: NVQ Level 3 in Lift Engineering or equivalent (e.g., City & Guilds, IPAF). ✔ Watchman Certification highly desirable but not essential this time—future training is planned. ✔ 1st Class Applicants with hands-on experience (mechanical/electrical liaison preferred). ✔ Job Type: Semi-Self Employed ✔ Freedom to Work with Clientele: Flexible hours (75% availability, 5 days/week) with a structured route. ✔ Supported Onboarding: Fresh qual heads welcomed!

Working Conditions
📍 Location: Glasgow (with optional overseas route options).
📅 Hours: Regular Monday–Thursday (0800-1645) & Friday (0800-1545). ⚡ Availability: 75% commitment | Rotating call-out pattern (1-in-4 rotations, covering 24-hour call-outs).

This role demands physical stamina, adaptability, and client satisfaction focus. Armed helicopters and drives (6–8 hrs/day) in all conditions!
Responsibilities
- Conduct maintenance, servicing, and minor repairs across all lift/access systems.
- Routine diagnostics, troubleshooting, and IS documentation of faults/rectifications.
- Regular safety & compliance checks | Ensure proper PSCLB/ILD inspections and site log entries under H&S protocol.
- Isolate faults, specify parts requirements → Source and repair with cost-efficiency in mind.
- *Acme-AutomaticCare compliance, managing admin, tool mobile kits, and depot stock.
- Estimating call-outs how & where difficulty impacts pricing & service efficiency.
- Initiate, participate in health & safety training segments to maintain certification.
- Engaging with staff in role on machinery updates/cycles for annual ‘Back to Basics’ sessions.

Additional Requirements
✔ Current valid licence L1/L2 or provisional L10. ✔ Access to own leading working instruments (primary duty mandated to insist on job-specific tooling quality/undercarriage availability). ❌ Not advisable for consciousness impaired or medically unfit candidates.

Qualifications
📌 Stannah seeks applicants with : ✔ NVQ Level 3 in Electric Lift Maintenance or equivalent*. ✔ Proven Lift Engineer experience managing maintenance teams. ✔ Exceptional monitoring skills: electrical/electronic diagnostics. ➡ (NOMIT & IPAF certifications preferred apply but come through —schemes paid in-training.)
