Installation Engineer (Lifts) – Glasgow, Scotland

About the Role

At ORONA, a pioneer in vertical transportation innovation, we’re transforming the industry by designing, installing, and servicing lifts and escalators globally. We need a dynamic and experienced Installation Engineer to join our Scotec team in Glasgow, delivering high-quality lift installations across our regional network.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Installation Preparation

  • Review and verify installation specifications, engineering drawings, and documentation
  • Conduct surveying and shaft set-outs to ensure accurate installation alignment
  • Manage deliveries and report shortages/deficiencies on time
  • Build strong partnerships with site teams, suppliers, and clients

Lift Installation

  • Install Orona’s hydraulic, traction, and MRL lifts (M’s Lift Regulation system) adhering to ISO & manufacturer specifications
  • Ensure correct tolerancing and validation for handover/testing phases
  • Meets PAS 32 standards – aim for minimal build-quality defects on-site

Team Leadership

  • Standardise siloed expertise by training and mentoring Installation Mates, Improvers, or Apprentices
    • Coach on quality, speed, and safety
    • Provide constructive performance feedback and progress reports
  • Maintain foreman-style accountability for sub-teams

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Implement strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies (ISO-contracted strategy)
  • Drive Safety Culture onsite, enforcing proper PPE standards

Operational Management

  • Maintain company tools, vans, and equipment timelines
  • Produce documentation: Full timesheets, job report logs & installations reports
  • Report progress/delays (including third-party approximations) up the chain
  • Communicate with contractors and project handover teams

Experience & Requirements

Core Experience

Minimum 3 years’ hands-on lift installation experience, preferably on:

  • EN-81 regimes (European & Scottish safety standards)
  • Hydraulic, MRL, and traction systems
  • Telecoms or mixed-trade commercial housing sites

Key Qualifications

  • Compulsory certificate: NVQ Level 3 in Lift Installation or equivalent accredited qualification
  • LEIA certified units (adjustable by level): -Lift Technology certification
  • On-site health & safety certification:
    • SSSTS or equivalent qualification (for Senior/Lead)
  • Site access: Pass/obtain CSCS Gold Card
  • Mobility: Mandatory Full UK driving licence (manual preferred)
