About the Role
The proposed role of Lifting Engineer at Hinkley Point C will be pivotal to supporting this unprecedented construction programme. You will be responsible for ensuring the comprehensive planning and management of all lifting activities with respect to operational lifting standards and the NNB Management of Lifting Operations Standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prioritise lifting activities (along with associated pre-work) alongside the team
- Create processes and procedures to effectively manage MEHA lifting activities
- Develop lift plans in accordance with the NNB Management of Lifting Operations Standard
- Ensure thorough examination of lifting equipment (including lifting accessories)
- Select appropriate lifting accessories, including installation methods and protection to prevent damage
- Brief all lifting/rigging supervision to ensure clarity on the safe system of work detailed in the lift plan
- Handover final lift plans to Lift/Rigging Supervisors
- Resource planning to guarantee the availability of a designated Lift/Rigging Supervisor to lead operations
- Identify and investigate hazards within the operational area
- Liaise with stakeholders to mitigate hazards, ensuring corrective action or special measures are included in safe work systems

Key Deliverables
- Lifting procedures
- Lifting coordination plans
- Lifting introduction studies
- Lift plans
- Compliance with legislation, standards, COPs, and NNB lifting standard for MEH scope lifting activities
- Promotion of health and safety through site inspections and enforcement of safety rules to uphold a Nuclear Safety Culture
- Work in support of the Lifting Lead to maintain compliance with nuclear safety and site licence requirements
- Assist the Lifting Lead in producing and presenting weekly and monthly reports for upward review
- Ensure resource readiness to meet organisational objectives and deadlines, in alignment with the delivery schedule
- Support project delivery while meeting time, budget, and quality goals, reporting as required by HPC standards
Key Requirements
- CPCS A61 – Appointed Person (Competent Operator, Blue Card)
- NVQ Level 3 – ACE card in steel erecting/moving loads
- ECITB Appointed Person Moving Loads with TAP01
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification
- Crane lift planning experience (Mobile, Crawler, or Tower)
- Rigging operation planning proficiency
- AutoCAD expertise
- Preferred: Proven experience within the nuclear power sector
- Relevant experience in large-scale construction projects
- Demonstrated ability to deliver as a Team Lead, including Joint Venture collaboration
