Role Description

The Lifting Equipment Engineer will work on-site in Wirral in a full-time capacity, supporting the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of lifting and handling equipment. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting routine and preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, performing corrective repairs, and ensuring equipment complies with applicable safety standards and regulations. The role involves collaborating with technical and design teams to implement bespoke lifting solutions, participating in equipment testing and commissioning, and preparing accurate service reports and documentation. The engineer will also provide technical support to clients, assist with troubleshooting operational issues, and contribute to continuous improvement in equipment performance and reliability.

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Equipment Maintenance, Maintenance & Repair, and Troubleshooting for lifting and handling systems.
  • Candidates should possess solid Mechanical Engineering knowledge, including understanding of load dynamics, structural integrity, and safety standards for lifting equipment.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Automation, including familiarity with control systems, sensors, and basic electrical or PLC-driven operations related to lifting solutions.
  • Relevant vocational or technical qualification in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related discipline is beneficial.
  • Experience with lifting equipment, overhead cranes, hoists, or similar industrial systems, ideally within industrial or entertainment sectors, is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, including LOLER and PUWER or equivalent standards, and commitment to safe working practices.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, use diagnostic tools, and produce clear service reports; strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Full, valid driving license and willingness to travel locally to customer sites when required.
