Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lifting Equipment Inspector to join our Inspection & Warehouse Teams at our UK Headquarters in Stevenage. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, you will be responsible for conducting internal inspections on all Lifting Equipment including hoists, trusses, rigging accessories, and personal fall protection equipment (PFPE), in accordance with the strict rules and high standards expected of Rigging Team, our clients, and relevant Regulations.

To succeed in this role, you must be an experienced Lifting Equipment Inspector, preferably within the entertainment industry, and have a proven record of inspecting Lifting Equipment. You must hold as a minimum a LEEA Foundation Course (FOU) qualification and have an excellent knowledge and understanding of LOLER and PUWER. You should also be well organised, able to manage detailed requirements to tight timescales, and comfortable to prioritise and organise your own workload.

A high level of attention to detail, self-motivation, focus, and a commitment to providing high quality results and continued learning are required to ensure that every client has an excellent experience when working with Rigging Team.

Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. Due to the nature of our industry a flexible approach to working hours and the possibility of some evening/weekend work may be required.

This position will have direct and active involvement of the on-going development of the Inspection Department, such as operational improvements, business development, or being a coach/mentor to candidates of our Trainee Lifting Equipment Inspector scheme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspection, testing, and maintenance of all company-owned and selected client-owned lifting and rigging equipment, ladders/access equipment, and PFPE.
  • Ensure all inspection data is accurately recorded in the company’s inspection and asset management software.
  • Produce inspection reports, test certificates, and other documentation as required.
  • Identify defective or damaged equipment and manage repair or quarantine processes as necessary.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with LOLER, PUWER, and other relevant UK Legislation and industry standards.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of inspection procedures and documentation systems.
  • Liaise with the Warehouse Manager and other departments to coordinate equipment availability and maintenance schedules.
  • Support external inspections and audits as required.
  • At all times to work in compliance with the company’s policies and vision.
  • Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene, and security.

Essential Skills and Experience Required

  • LEEA Foundation Course (FOU).
  • Excellent knowledge of LOLER and PUWER.
  • Experience working in a similar role, ideally within the entertainment industry.
  • Knowledge of entertainment rigging equipment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in fluent English.
  • Computer literate and familiar with MS Office.
  • High level of attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Proactive attitude towards safety and ensure that any equipment defects are dealt with promptly.
  • Able to work safely and methodically, with a high level of attention to detail and awareness of task timescales.
  • Be happy working both individually and as part of a team, have a flexible attitude to working hours.

Desirable Skills and Experience Required

  • LEEA Lifting Equipment General (LEG).
  • LEEA Lifting Machines Manual (LMM).
  • LEEA Lifting Machines Power (LMP).
  • IPAF 1b, 3a, 3b.
  • Working knowledge of Electronic Chain Hoists (i.e. EXE).
  • Knowledge of event rigging and entertainment industry standards.
