Company Description Scotia Handling Services Limited is an independent, family-run engineering company based in Linwood, Paisley. The organization specializes in lifting equipment, load testing, height safety, and wire rigging solutions for a wide range of clients. Role Description This is a full-time role, based in Linwood for a Lifting Equipment Inspector. Work will include both on-site and workshop based time, with the bulk of tasks as follows:
- thorough examinations
- load testing
- manufacture of chain slings
- manufacture of wire rope slings
- NDT, if relevant
- installation of height safety equipment, if relevant
- preparing relevant certification
The Lifting Equipment Inspector will carry out these tasks in accordance with relevant legislation, standards, and company procedures with training provided. Responsibilities may also include contributing to height safety and wire rigging projects, maintaining tools and test equipment, and participating in ongoing safety and technical training.

Qualifications Proven experience inspecting lifting equipment, accessories, or related mechanical systems, ideally within an engineering or industrial environment. Strong understanding of lifting operations, load testing principles, and height safety practices, with a commitment to safe working methods. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and standards, and to apply them accurately in inspections. Competence in preparing clear written inspection reports, certificates, and documentation with strong attention to detail. Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders on-site. Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound judgments regarding equipment condition and suitability for use. Comfort working in industrial environments and at height where required, following all safety procedures and using PPE correctly. Relevant industry certifications (e.g., LEEA or equivalent) or willingness to work toward them; apprenticeship or vocational qualification in engineering or a related trade is advantageous. Full, valid driving license and readiness to travel to customer sites as needed. Right to work in the UK and ability to meet any security or site access requirements applicable to client locations.
