Key Responsibilities

Design & Documentation:
- Create detailed engineering layouts, drawings, and supporting documentation in alignment with WSP’s Quality Assurance and client specifications.
- Develop feasibility reports, technical notes, optioneering reports, and specifications.

Client & Manufacturing Engagement:
- Liaise with luminaire, column, controls, and electrical manufacturers.
- Coordinate with contractors (site visits, RFI/TQ responses, and compliance checks).

Site & Project Support:
- Conduct non-intrusive site visits for lighting assessments and site clearance.
- Support project proposals, track programme milestones, and manage budgets.

Collaboration & Mentorship:
- Build trust with Local Authority and Strategic Road Network clients.
- Analyze client briefs and provide expert guidance.
- Mentor junior team members and Early Career Professionals.

Business Development & Representation:
- Represent WSP in the lighting industry and nurture key relationships.
- Drive business growth while advancing professional standards.
Your Team & Growth Opportunities

Requirements & Competencies
Core Skills (All Levels):
- Proficiency in Lighting Reality, Dialux, or AutoCAD.
- In-depth knowledge of external lighting standards, guidance, legislation.
- Practical experience with lighting design software (conception to construction).
- Strong electrical design and maintenance operations awareness.
- Product knowledge of external lighting systems.
- Independent/teamwork abilities, with exceptional communication and organizational skills.
- Mentoring experience and coaching capabilities.
- sector experience in Local Government or Strategic Roads.

Junior Roles (Emerging Professionals):
- Alignment with IEng aspirations or progress toward CEng status.
Senior Roles (Principal Engineer):
- Demonstrated project/team leadership and confidence in management.
