Role Overview
The Lighting Manager is responsible for the planning and delivery of high quality Lighting for a diverse variety of shows and productions across all our venues. This role involves coordinating all aspects of lighting production and leading a team of lighting engineers and technicians – both full time employees and freelancers. Primarily the Lighting Manager will be responsible for the lighting systems and delivery in the Here and Lower Third venues, but there will also be involvement in the Now spaces and across the District.
Key Responsibilities
Show and Event Delivery and Operation:
- Ability to deliver first-class lighting operation as well as supporting other engineers to deliver the same high level of production
- Ensuring exacting delivery of all lighting elements of each show or event
- Remaining calm under pressure and resourceful in problem solving
- Having flexibility and ability to work with all manner of artists and clients
Team Leadership & Coordination:
- Schedule full time and freelance staff to fulfil the requirements of all venues.
- Work with visiting teams across a variety of genres and event type.
- Coordinate and work with external production teams to ensure the smooth delivery of events and productions
- Assist in the training and development of junior members of the team
Equipment Maintenance & Management:
- Schedule routine testing of lighting equipment and hardware.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of lighting equipment.
- Implement software/firmware updates for digital equipment
- Handle rentals and logistics for additional equipment/kit when needed.
- Coordinate house equipment across all venues.
- Develop and maintain the digital infrastructure of the venues alongside the video and audio managers
Quality Control & Compliance:
- Continuously ensuring the highest quality lighting delivery possible across all venues.
- Strive for a well-engineered lighting environment that enhances the audience’s experience or the production’s narrative.

Project & Budget Management:
- Plan and budget for ongoing maintenance and repairs.
- Cost improvements and upgrades to the audio systems and equipment.
- Work with PMs to cost and budget for individual events and shows.
- Help develop projects and additional revenue streams for the company
Other:
- Support the Head of Production with running of all Venues.
- Attend production, team and client meetings as required.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential Experience:
- Extensive experience in lighting design and show operations.
- Excellent proficiency with Grand MA and Avolites consoles.
- Comprehensive knowledge of automated lighting fixtures
- Knowledge of digital networks and systems.
- Team management experience.
- Understanding of electrical systems
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- A working knowledge of video systems including Disguise and LED screen
- Good understanding of data networking and Araneo
- Technically knowledgeable in all areas of event production
- Health and Safety training
- Understanding of industry trends and standards
- PAT test trained
Personal Attributes:
- Technically minded
- Excellent Leadership, Guidance & Communication skills
- Strong problem-solving ability and calm under pressure
- Adaptable and proactive with clients, driven to develop clients’ ideas and goals.
