Its expertise covers lightning protection and earthing, fall arrest and restraint systems, guardrails, fixed access ladders, PPE inspection and training, steeplejack services, and rope access works in line with IRATA standards. As part of the Vadella Group, Horizon also connects clients to broader compliance and consultancy services, including air conditioning inspections, duct cleaning, water and air quality testing, and various building risk assessments.
Role Description
The Lightning Protection Operations Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Nottingham, responsible for overseeing the delivery of lightning protection inspection, testing, maintenance, and installation projects. This role manages day-to-day operations, including scheduling and coordinating field teams, allocating resources, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and in line with industry standards and company procedures. The Operations Manager monitors compliance with relevant regulations and certifications, supports quality assurance processes, and maintains accurate operational documentation and reporting. The role also involves liaising with clients, addressing operational queries, supporting quotations and project planning, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in service delivery. The Manager is expected to provide leadership to operational staff, foster a strong safety culture, and support training and development across the lightning protection team.

- Experience in operations management within construction, electrical, or specialist contracting environments, ideally including lightning protection or similar safety-critical systems.
- Knowledge of lightning protection standards, inspection and testing practices, and relevant health and safety regulations, with a strong focus on compliance and risk management.
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate field teams, manage schedules and resources, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience working with commercial, industrial, and public sector clients and internal cross-functional teams.
- Competence in using operational and reporting software, including scheduling tools, CRM or job management systems, and MS Office applications.
- Relevant technical or vocational qualifications in engineering, construction, electrical disciplines, or a related field; professional certifications in lightning protection or height safety are an advantage.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with experience supporting audits, accreditation requirements, or ISO management systems.
