Line Leader – Packaging | Supply Chain Production | Tadcaster

Salary Circa £58,500 (depending on experience), plus bonus and full benefits listed below.

About the Role
The Line Leader is accountable for driving the autonomous line team towards peak performance, ensuring accountability for all safety, quality, and cost efficiency outcomes. You will oversee daily operations, champion continuous improvement, and maintain adherence to safety, quality, and budgetary standards through the use of TPM methodology and Shopfloor Excellence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Guiding high performance in line management while developing a strong, focused team culture.
- Ensuring the execution of Heineken’s **food and production safety standards across end-to-end packaging operations.
- Leading equipment reliability, maintenance, and lifecycle management within budget.
- Implementing quality controls, KPI tracking, and process compliance audits to mitigate risks.
Responsibilities
Core Duties

Operational Leadership
- Oversee end-to-end packaging operations, ensuring equipment, facilities, and processes align with safety, efficiency, and budgetary KPIs.
- Monitor and report safety metrics, quality indicators, and cost performance as agreed with the Packaging Manager.
- Drive shift staffing and resource allocating, adjusting daily planning to prioritise operational demands.

Safety & Compliance
- Implement, monitor, and enforce Heineken Safety and Food Safety standards, including outsourced activities, through risk assessments, BS regulations, and safety investigations.
- Ensure 100% compliance with food safety processes,chaque and local regulations, including:
- Quality indicators and process compliance audits (APM Step 5, HiQuest follow-up).
- Proactive management of quality risks and improvement initiatives (reporting actions taken).

Quality Management
- Develop, train, and mentor team leaders and operators on packaging quality control through structured HR development tools.
- Lead improvement teams,, RCA-facilitated root cause analysis, and support new product introduction (NPI) processes.

TPM & Continuous Improvement
- Apply TPM toolbox and methodologies to embed loss prevention and drive line improvement plans.
- Lead Shoplfloor Excellence pillars, audits, and strategy initiatives, with a focus on:
- On Time, In Full (OTIF) delivery reliability.
- Employee engagement and sustainability improvements (water, energy, and waste reduction programs).
- Direct OCIE (Lean Process Improvement), developmental activities and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Facilities & Maintenance
- Manage packaging equipment lifecycle, from reliability and maintenance to Capex project support.
- Ensure DCS (DCS) controls, PM cycles, and HACS comply with Heineken standards.
- Support Packaging Manager in technical problem-solving, stock performance, and equipment optimisation.

Team Development
- Align with the Packaging Manager in recruitment, performance management, and career development (sequence to Heineken procedures).
- Coach operators and team leads, leveraging continuous and individual HR development tools.
Key Accountabilities
- Budget adherence, efficiency gains, and full end-to-end packaging oversight.
- 24-hour accountability during critical operational shifts, committed to adhering to Heineken’s high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
- Participation in weekly toolbox meetings and broader departmental improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- Production Line Experience on high-speed packaging lines.
- Proven track record managing and developing production teams under a mantle of accountability.
- Exceptional attention to detail, particularly within safety and compliance priorities.
- Competency in applying continuous improvement methodologies (TPM, RRCAs).
- Problem-solving orientation, with ability to implement practical solutions to mitigate operational disruption.
- Experience in resource planning and tracking KPIs (against preset targets, including budget).
