Line Operator
Line Operator – Confectionery Production
Business Unit: Nestlé UK&I
Contract Type: Fixed Term – 6 Months
Location: York Factory
Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours weekly (average over 3-week pattern)
- Shifts cover days and nights Monday – Friday (Friday day only), with optional overtime
- Must be available for an assessment centre on Friday, 30th January 2026
Salary: £35,572 per annum
About the Role
We’re looking for Line Operators to join our Nestlé Confectionery factory in York as part of the production department. These positions operate on a Nestlé Flexible Worker basis, offering opportunities to work across all factory areas. Depending on performance, there is a pathway to a permanent role with the world’s largest food and beverage business—the makers of KitKat, Aero, Yorkie bars & Polo Mints.
Your work will contribute to:
- Assembling and packaging confectionery products
- Ensuring product quality and operational efficiency
- Maintaining strict safety and hygiene standards
Weaim to make manufacturing more efficient and sustainable while delivering perfect products to consumers everywhere.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate production lines efficiently to meet performance targets, generate high-quality output, and minimise downtime.
- Monitor and maintain production systems, reducing repairs and breakdowns.
- Enforce safety and quality standards to guarantee a secure working environment.
- Proactively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Show ownership of line operations, even when Line Leaders aren’t present.
- Promote positive teamwork, motivating colleagues and upholding routines.
- Support factory KPIs during busy activities.
Requirements
Technical & Personal Skills
- Practical mindset with a collaborative, solution-focused attitude.
- Strong teamwork capabilities, particularly near plant machinery.
- Ability to tackle problems and ensure compliance with safety, quality, cost, and delivery processes.
- Commitment to maintaining production excellence despite shifts and potential overtime.
Experience
- Preferable but not essential: Background in a manufacturing role (training provided).
- Mandatory: Availability for the specified shift pattern and the assessment centre.
